Raid costs
Pick what you need to get through. Every count here is worked out from the structure’s health and the damage each explosive does to it, not copied off a chart — so the page can show you the division, and you can see when a tool is one hit short.
2,200 sulfur each — 20 Explosives + 5 Cloth + 2 Tech Trash. Explosives is 50 Gun Powder + 10 Sulfur each, so 20 × 110 = 2200.

Sulfur per explosive
| Explosive | Sulfur | Where that comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Timed Explosive Charge | 2,200 | 20 Explosives + 5 Cloth + 2 Tech Trash. Explosives is 50 Gun Powder + 10 Sulfur each, so 20 × 110 = 2200. |
| Rocket | 1,400 | 10 Explosives + 150 Gun Powder + 2 Metal Pipe. 1100 + 300 = 1400. |
| Satchel Charge | 480 | 4 Beancan Grenades + 1 Rope + 1 Small Stash. 4 × 120 = 480. |
| Beancan Grenade | 120 | 60 Gun Powder + 20 Metal Fragments = 120 sulfur. |
| Explosive 5.56 Rifle Ammo | 25 | 20 Gun Powder + 10 Metal Fragments + 10 Sulfur yields 2 rounds. 50 ÷ 2 = 25 each. |
| High Velocity Rocket | 200 | 100 Gun Powder + 1 Metal Pipe = 200 sulfur. |
| F1 Grenade | 60 | 30 Gun Powder + 25 Metal Fragments = 60 sulfur. |
Raw sulfur, with the gunpowder unrolled: Gun Powder is 20 sulfur and 30 charcoal per 10, so one gunpowder is 2 sulfur.
Where these numbers come from
Component data on this site comes from Rust’s own files or from building the thing and checking. Raid costs can’t work that way — the game files carry item names and descriptions but no damage values and no structure health. So this page is sourced, and the honest thing is to say exactly how.
Structure HP and per-hit damage come from an open dataset, which was then checked rather than trusted. Facepunch’s own rocket table gives twig 1, wood 2, stone 4, sheet metal 8, armoured 15, wooden door 1, sheet metal door 2, garage door 3 — and the arithmetic here reproduces all seven. Community-consensus figures for the stone wall (2 C4, 4 rockets, 10 satchels, 185 explosive ammo), the armoured wall (8 C4, 15 rockets) and the auto turret (2 satchels, 3 HV rockets) also come out exactly.
The one disagreement is the armoured door on rockets. Facepunch says 4; 4 × 220.4 is 881 against 1000 HP, which leaves it standing. Their own note explains it — the cheap play is 4 rockets and then explosive ammo for the last 119 HP. This page says 5, because 5 is what breaks it with rockets alone.
Sulfur costs are traced through Facepunch’s wiki recipes down to raw sulfur. C4, the rocket, the satchel, the beancan and explosive ammo were read directly; the HV rocket and F1 fit the same chain but weren’t confirmed first-hand.
Soft side and hard side
It doesn’t change explosive damage. That distinction is about melee — a pickaxe or a jackhammer does far more to the soft face, which is why you point the soft side into your base. Plenty of guide sites publish separate soft and hard explosive counts anyway, and an earlier version of this page repeated them. They were wrong.
What this still isn’t
Nobody here has stood in front of a wall and counted. Three sources agreeing and the arithmetic checking out is a real claim, and it is a weaker one than “we tested it”. The site says which of those it’s making everywhere else, so it says it here too.
